Information literacy enhances student success. When information literacy (IL) is connected with program outcomes and class learning outcomes, students learn to use these skills in individual classes, as well as in their overall programs. Librarians teach information literacy skills by collaborating with teaching faculty to tie IL instruction to class assignments and class outcomes. When IL instruction is integrated with the curriculum, students gain a meaningful understanding of the practicality and usefulness of information literacy. Information literacy skills provide students with the skills to find a variety of resources, to examine issues at a deeper level, and to draw their own conclusions based on the information gathered.
